Saltire Books was founded in 2007 by Steven and Lee Kayne, a father and son team from Glasgow, Scotland, with the aim of establishing an independent publishing company to serve the professional healthcare and complementary medicine community.

In 2014, the Riverclyde Books imprint was established to encourage new authors in other exciting fields and an agreement was made with the British Homeopathic Association to exclusively licence and reprint their titles.

Steven Kayne has practised as a pharmacist with a special interest in homeopathy since founding Freeman's Homeopathic Pharmacy. in Glasgow, Scotland in 1971.
